Things I Want In Safari
I love Safari: its wonderful standards support, its integration into the mac environment, its flashiness. However, it has its flaws too. Here are 5 things I’d like to see in Safari 5
- Separate processes for tabs (like Google Chrome)
- Restore session (like Firefox)
- A “Reopen last/recently closed tab(s)” option (I rarely work with just one tab in a window but should I accidentally close one, a common error in Safari 4, I can’t jump back to it easily)
- “Search in Google” menu item opens search in new tab
- Typing terms into the address bar submits them to the current default search engine instead of trying to resolve what is clearly an invalid URI
I also have a minor request for a more robust “Open Address in New Tab” option that shows up even when the protocol or www subdomain is left off, could you squeeze this in before the Safari 4 public release? Please with a cherry on top? Thanks Steve.
