I think I became a feminist the day it took going to 6 different comic book stores to find a figurine of Leia wearing her Endor costume (aka pants) because all the stores carried were Slave Leia figurines, and as a 6 year old girl, I had a problem with that.

I didn’t like that the only girl in my favorite live action movie seemed to be remembered only when she was in a gold bikini and on a leash.

Homegirl kicked ass on Endor.

And gave Han almost as much sass as he gave her. The captured and enslaved thing is a dark spot but at least she took initiative in her escape. Leia’s not a damsel in distress. She defeated Jabba the Hutt while in chains. But I agree, why can’t we remember her as a leadership figure in the Rebel Alliance?
